Interviewer: Today, I'm interviewing Dr. Desmond Lachman, Senior Fellow, American Enterprise Institute, USA, on his article published on 21st of March, 2025 in Project Syndicate titled "America Looks Like a Troubled Emerging Market Economy". Before the AEI, Dr. Lachman served as a Managing Director and Chief Emerging Market Economic Strategist at Salomon Smith Barney and Deputy Director in the International Monetary Fund's policy development and review department. For context, I record that this interview is taking place on 9th of April, 2025. We are in the midst of market turmoil. The obvious question, having read your article is, what is to be done?
