Interviewer: Today, 23rd of February, 2023, I'm interviewing Professor Rebecca Henderson, John and Natty McArthur University Professor based at Harvard Business School. Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research and fellow of both the British Academy and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The subject to this interview is her article in Harvard Business Review of 28th of July, 2020 titled, "Reimagining Capitalism in the Shadow of the Pandemic". Listeners are expect to have read the article before listening to the interview. Professor Henderson, thank you for sparing the time. It's now about two and half years since your article was published. You have made a call for change. May I ask, at the level of the individual, who do you want to do what and how? Prof. Henderson: Neil, it's a pleasure to be here. What an opening question. I want everyone to do everything. Let me be more precise. We're living in a world on fire, literally in the case of climate change in California, but also figuratively, in the case of accelerating inequality and massive racial inequity. I want everyone to take responsibility and to get engaged with these problems. I think all of us can get engaged on three levels:
