Interviewer: Today, I'm interviewing Prof. Scott Anthony, clinical professor of business administration, Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College, USA, on his article of 12th of December, 2023, titled The Hidden Opportunity in Paradoxes, published in MIT Sloan Review. Listeners are expected to have read the article before listening to this interview. First, some background. A link to Professor Anthony's impressive biography accompanies this interview. At the time of the interview, Professor Anthony's working on his ninth book scheduled for publication in 2025 with the provisional title, Anomalies Wanted: A Brief History of Disruption. A link between the article and the intended book is obvious. Professor Anthony, thank you for sparing the time. Now, I start by asking two questions. One, your article reads as guidance for big corporations. To what extent, if at all, is what you advise relevant for small organizations? For example, can it be adapted to be relevant to the challenges of small and medium-sized enterprises? Two, is there an assumption in your article that companies should at least aspire to immortality? Circumstances may kill them, but planning to age gracefully and die is not an acceptable goal. As individuals, we cope with death.
