IInterviewer: Today, I'm interviewing Donncha Carroll on the subject of talent marketplaces, how and why large companies should establish one. Mr. Carroll is Partner and Chief Data Scientist at Lotis Blue Consulting. Listeners are expected to have read Mr. Carroll's article of 20th of November, 2023, in MIT Sloan Review, titled How to Start Smart With a Talent Marketplace, written with Jeff Williamson, before listening to this interview. Mr. Carroll, thank you for sparing the time. Let's make sure we know what we're discussing. What is a talent marketplace? Mr. Carroll: Thank you, Neil. A talent marketplace is essentially a platform that provides employees opportunities to find new positions, jobs, roles inside an organization, and for managers to find talent that they wouldn't normally discover through the typical channels connecting with their internal networks, which are usually quite limited. Essentially, it's a data-driven platform for connecting individuals that are looking for work or looking for experiences and opportunities inside the organization where they're employed, or for managers to find resources that they need by having an opportunity to cast a much broader net than they would normally. Interviewer: What number of employees is the minimum number for an organization, at which it should consider having a talent marketplace?
