Interviewer: Today I'm interviewing Professor Grzegorz Kolodko Director of the Transformation, Integration and Globalization Economic Research unit, TIGER at Kozminski University, Poland, on his article published in Project Syndicate of 5th September 2022 titled 'The irreversibility of globalization'. Listeners are expected to have read the article before listening to this interview. Professor Kolodko has, of course, been Deputy Premiere, and Minister of Finance of Poland on more than one occasion. Professor Kolodko, thank you for spending the time. Is it correct that in your article you assume that for the foreseeable future, it will not be the case that all the major countries in the world will become liberal democracies with so-called 'free market economies'? Prof. Kolodko: I'm afraid it is right because what we do observe in this volatile world is rather the deterioration of the democratic political regimes. I may say that there is less of democracy in 2023 than it was, say, three or 13, or even 30 years ago. We are not doomed to go to the authoritarian regime but even in countries which are classical examples of liberal democracy, there is a little bit less of democracy.
