Interviewer: Today, I'm interviewing Mr. Ravin Jesuthasan on the subject of talent marketplaces. In particular, why and how talent marketplaces can improve both company and employee outcomes. Mr. Jesuthasan is an author and consultant. A link to the text of his multi-authored report, building and sustaining a thriving talent marketplace, and a list of his published books, together with his biography, accompany this interview. Listeners are expected to have read the report before listening to the interview. Mr. Jesuthasan, thank you for sparing the time. May I start by asking a few basic questions? Is it correct that your report reflects an understanding that the jury, so to speak, is still out that there is no certainty that a talent marketplace will become a long-term established part of large company corporate structure? How then is it thought talent marketplaces can add value? If they succeed and spread both rapidly and widely, what do they affect or perhaps disrupt? Is this a passing shiny innovation, the life of which will be short, as the next best practice comes along? Mr. Jesuthasan. Mr. Jesuthasan: Neil, it's a pleasure to be here with you. This report was written in 2022, and I actually think it captures a fundamental pivot point in the world of work. Let me tell you why I think talent marketplaces are here to stay.
