Medicines and vaccines have revolutionized the prevention and treatment of diseases offering immense benefits to our health. However, alongside these benefits, they can be also side effects some of which maybe undesirable or unexpected. This is where pharmacovigilance comes into play. Pharmacovigilance is the science dedicated to detecting assessing, understanding and prevailing adverse effects and any other problems related to medicine and vaccines. Before any medicine or vaccine is authorized for use. It undergoes rigorous testing for safety and efficacy via clinical trials. These trials are conducted on a relatively small select group of individuals over a short period. Despite this rigorous testing, certain side effects may only become apparent once these products are used by a diverse larger population including individuals with other concurrent diseases and over extended periods. They're stating and managing these risks via pharmacovigilance is crucial for ensuring the continued safety and efficacy of medicinal products.
