This session centers on pain mechanisms and perception, offering a structured look at the definitions, types, and mechanisms of pain, including the roles of nociceptors and ural pathways involved in pain transmission. We will explore how pain is perceived and modulated by the brain and the influence of psychological and biological factors on individual pain experiences. Finally, we will discuss multimodal pain management strategies, combining pharmacological and non pharmacological approaches for effective treatment. Pain is an essential biological warning system, an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience linked to actual or potential tissue damage, as defined by the International Association for the study of pain. It has sensory and emotional aspects, helping us locate pain and driving protective behaviors. Pain can be classified as acute or chronic. Acute pain is usually sudden and short term, while chronic pain lasts for months or years. Pain mechanisms include no susceptive pain and neuropathic pain with many conditions involving mixed types. At the heart of pain detection are noteptors specialized sensory receptors that initiate nonseption found in skin, muscles, joints, and organs, these free nerve endings respond to damaging thermal, chemical, or mechanical stimuli.
