Hello and thank you for joining me. My name is Jane Crofts and I lead an organisation called Data To The People. My talks have been around data literacy. In my first talk, I gave an introduction of what we mean by data literacy. Then, in the second talk, I provided an approach to building data literacy across an organisation. Today, I'd like to present to you a case study of an organisation that we worked with to do just that.

I'm going to walk you through a case study of a recent data literacy program we delivered with an Australian not-for-profit organisation. The organisation had embarked on an ambitious five-year strategy, and there was senior recognition from both the executive team and also the board that harnessing data would be integral to the success of the strategy. They knew that data literacy was essential for their team members to be able to confidently engage with and leverage the data and data systems they had in place. They chose to partner with us to deliver this program.

You may recall from my previous talk that we adopt a process of measure, map, and develop. By measuring where we are now, mapping where we are going, then we can develop a plan to get there.

All of this work is done against the Databilities, data literacy competency framework. Databilities sets out each of the individual competencies that make up data literacy and provides six levels of progression for each. Each competency can be scored between one and six, with one meaning an individual that can complete simple tasks with instruction and six meaning an individual can teach and assist others to complete complex problems and tasks.
