My name is Jennifer Stirrup.
I've been a practitioner in
All Things Data for
over two decades now.
I'm passionate about ensuring
that data becomes a part
of everyone's skill set.
I have postgraduate degrees in
artificial intelligence
and I also hold an MBA.
I'm very excited to be here
today to take you through
these important topics of data
literacy and data fluency.

Welcome to this presentation
where we will discuss
an overview of the concepts
of data literacy
and data fluency.
Both of these items together
are very important in
business nowadays where we
aim to be as data-driven
as possible.
We'll also look through
some real-world examples
in order to help you to
understand the
importance and how to
implement them in terms
of their operation.
Becoming fluent with data
is not a solo journey,
so we will discuss some of
the people issues
around this as well.
Ultimately, the outcome is
that businesses must ensure
that their workforce
also builds digital
skills and capabilities.
We can't simply focus
only on the technology.
We have to think about
the data as well.
The ambition is to have
universal data literacy
and data fluency is an
important part of that.

Let's have a look
at data fluency.
We'll look at
defining what it is,
We'll also then dive
in to look at it
in more detail and how it
contrasts with data literacy.
We'll have a look at
a case study as well,
and then we will look at
a way forward focusing on
businesses specifically.
What is data fluency?
