Good day. It's my pleasure and privilege to speak to you all today about
how I have applied intuitive intelligence in the South African private healthcare sector.
I will be doing the sharing via a series of case studies.
0:22
My name is Dr. Augusta Dorning.
I have 36 years of experience in healthcare
in South Africa across three sectors: the public,
the non-governmental organization sector,
and more recently, in the private sector where I have been working for the last 15 years.
I'm currently the group head of Africa Business for the Lenmed Group in South Africa,
but the case studies that I will present to you today to
demonstrate the immense power of intuitive intelligence in
healthcare stem from my nine years as the hospital
general manager of the largest private hospital in South Africa.
I was the first and only female hospital general manager
to run the hospital in it's 120 years of existence.
For the benefits of all our female listeners today,
I'm sure that you will find some of the insights most useful.

To show the context of the case studies that I will share with you all today,
the hospital, as I mentioned,
is the largest private hospital in South Africa.
The hospital has 464 beds of which 80 are intensive care unit beds.
The hospital at any given time during
the nine-year period experienced an 85 percent occupancy,
and there were 268 doctors,
all specialists, working in the hospital at any given time.
Fifteen hundred permanent staff serviced the hospital,
and all of those were healthcare workers.
The hospital provided specialist disciplines in all areas of
medical practice with the exception of radiation oncology.
