In this talk, we turn our attention to precision medicine, framing our discussion around the foundations and advances in precision medicine, focusing on how individualized care is achieved through genomic and molecular profiling. We will discuss the critical role of biomarkers and pharmacogenomic testing in guiding therapy choices and maximizing treatment efficacy. Examples from oncology, cardiology, and rare diseases will illustrate the expanding impact of precision medicine. Finally, we will address the ongoing challenges such as variant interpretation, accessibility, and ethical considerations and highlight future directions involving artificial intelligence and multiomix integration. In this lecture, we explore the foundations and advances in precision medicine, a field aiming to tailor healthcare at the individual level. Unlike traditional approaches, precision medicine uses a patient's biological and genetic profile to guide risk assessment, prevention, diagnosis, and therapy. With affordable genomic sequencing, proteomics, and molecular diagnostics, clinicians can design interventions that reflect human and disease diversity, maximizing efficacy and minimizing side effects. Central to precision medicine is using genomic and molecular profiling of patients and their diseases. Advanced sequencing tools can characterize not only a patient's inherited germ line DNA, but also somatic mutations in diseased tissues like tumors. Technologies such as whole xome
