Hi. My name is Khuram Shahzad,
and I'm an assistant
professor of
Digital Innovation Management at
the School of Technology
and Innovations,
Industrial Management Unit,
and InnoLab research platform
of the University
of Vaasa, Finland.
The topic of today's talk is
Blockchain-Enabled
Smart Contracts
for Supply Chain Transformation.

Alright, so the agenda of my presentation
includes the discussion around
the basics of
blockchain and what
are the important features
a blockchain carries.
Then, I will talk
about the steps in
blockchain information
and transaction.
Next, I would introduce
smart contracts and what are
the blockchain-enabled
smart contracts
and how they operate
in supply chains?
Then, I have a couple
of case studies
that will help you to understand
the real case
implications and how
blockchain-enabled
facilitate companies
to bring transparency.
It will be followed by
the lesson learned.

So, what is
blockchain? You might
have heard about blockchain,
but you still want to
know what exactly is it?
How it works?
Where it values come from?
How it is developing currently?
I will talk this in detail here.
Blockchain technology
is changing
how business is executed.
It's important to understand
why blockchain is different
and how it works in comparison
with technologies of the past.
Blockchain has the potential
to change the world
and a few people have realized
all its far-reaching
applications beyond Bitcoin.
Its disruptive potential has
been compared to that
of the Internet.
That's why people call it
"the internet of money"
or "the internet of value".
I will talk about how
blockchain-enabled
smart contract works
and how it can be applied to
supply chain transformation.
After last year's
unprecedented fluctuation
of the crypto asset market,
fueled by the speculations
and emotions,
it's high time to
increase awareness and
understanding of
blockchain technology
among the general public.
I think understanding should
come first before anyone
starts making any decisions
with real-world implications.
That's why my talk would help
you to understand all this.
