I'm Shahid Zaki, former CEO of Philips Pakistan. Later in the career, I headed a vocational institute where I was instrumental in bringing it right at the top of choice set of vocational institutes with important stakeholders like the employees, the government, and so on.

My presentation will be divided into five parts, starting with introduction of non-profit because as opposed to profit, they don't make profits. Of course, they make profits, but they invest it on their own development. Typically, strategic management is not fully practiced in non-profit organization. They could be having a mission and a vision, but in practice, those are not aligned and they are moving from one operating mission to another. Subsequently, I will discuss the vision, mission which we adopted in the vocational institute. The vision and mission had to be exemplary. It should be well embedded in the environment in which we are performing. I will also spend some time on the challenges I faced as I developed the value proposition of the institute and later made a very nice commercial to depict it as part of our advertising campaign.
