Hello and welcome on behalf of HS Talks to this exciting series on intuitive intelligence in business. I'm Dr. Manj Subiah, executive coach, author, business advisor and MBA tutor. Thank you for joining us in this exciting series. Having spent a total of 23 years in both corporate and business in diverse industries such as chemical, paint, plastics and manufacturing, in service sectors such as occupational health, education, training and development, I became involved in research on intuitive intelligence and its value in business, which is something that seemed to crop up no matter which sector I worked in. You see, leaders within top 100 companies all seemed to share the remarkable dynamic capability of intuitive intelligence when dealing with uncertain environments. They showed an extraordinary sense-making, decision-making, visionary foresight ability, and a timely ability to act and respond effectively to external challenges, all of which effectively impacted favorably on their strategic decision-making.

Ancient literature as far back as the 8th century made reference to an evolutionary intelligence, but in terms of business research it's only in 1987 that we find R Rowan identifying managers able to make effective business decisions using a form of intuitive intelligence. Now we've come to learn intuition itself is but part of a much greater story. We've come to learn that in its evolved form, this dynamic evolutionary intelligence is perfectly adapted to sustaining business and indeed life activities, in what is known as VUCA environments: volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous environments. We've also learned that this remarkable inherent ability, long acclaimed by Einstein and Carl Sagan, is none other than an actual evolutionary intuitive intelligence.
