Today's session focuses on the macro environment in business. The macro environment refers to broad external factors that affect organizations but lie outside their direct control. Whether a company operates locally or globally, these external forces shape the landscape in which it must compete and grow. Unlike internal factors or the micro environment, the macro environment includes economic, social, technological, political, legal, and environmental influences. Businesses cannot control these but must understand, monitor, and adapt to them to ensure resilience and long term success. To systematically analyze the macro environment, many businesses use the pestle framework, which stands for political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal factors. Political forces refer to governmental policies, stability, and regulations like changes in trade agreements or tax laws. Economic factors include the health of the economy, inflation, unemployment, and currency changes. Social factors involve demographics and cultural trends. Technological, environmental, and legal forces cover innovation, sustainability, and regulations. Analyzing these areas helps organizations anticipate threats and leverage opportunities.
