This presentation will examine scientific writing, including document structure using the IRD format and the importance of clear concise language. We will discuss proper citation practices to ensure scientific integrity and how to create effective visuals that clarify your data. Additionally, we will cover writing style tips to enhance clarity and logic and highlight the significance of well organized accessible communication in strengthening your research impact. Let's begin with structure, the backbone of any effective scientific document. Most scientific papers use the IRD format. Introduction, methods, results and discussion. The introduction sets the context and research question. Methods describe how the study was conducted for reproducibility. Results present findings objectively, and discussion explores implications. Always include an abstract, keywords, references, and supplementary materials as needed. Clear and concise language is crucial in scientific writing. The message should be understood on first reading, regardless of a reader's location, whether they use UK or US English, the principles are the same. Use plain language and avoid jargon unless it's standard in the field, explaining key terms when necessary. Convey one idea per sentence and keep it brief, eliminate redundancy and wordiness. Use active voice to clarify responsibility and maintain consistency in terminology and tense. Accurate citation is a hallmark of scientific integrity. Proper citation credits original authors
