Welcome to key concepts of technology commercialization. My name is Professor Milé Terziovski. I'm a former engineer with a multinational organization and a PhD from the Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne, in quality management and innovation.

For the past seven years, I've been working at Swinburne University of Technology as a tenured professor of entrepreneurship and innovation, where I held the role as department chair of business technology and entrepreneurship for six years. This series of ten short talks provides an introduction to the principal themes of technology commercializations and pointing towards further study.

Little bit of background on commercialization of technology. It's important to the global economy and is becoming more challenging as the rate of change of emerging technologies accelerates at the speed of the internet. It can be achieved with greater probability of success than ever before, because these emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, have enabled innovators to seek ideas from multiple sources for creating commercial pathways.

Today, we'll be talking on the technology commercialization introduction, and the following are the topics that I'll be covering. I'll be defining technology and technology commercialization, explaining the technology commercialization strategic process for firm growth. I will highlight the benefits of successful commercialization, main challenges of the commercialization process, and the need to develop innovation capability, and we'll provide an example of Intel's successful technology commercialization.
