Hello, everyone.
This is Chiara
Eleonora De Marco.
I'm an Open Innovation Consultant
at CiaoTech PNO Group.
I'm also a former researcher for current research affiliated with the
Institute of Management at the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa, Italy.
Today, I'm going to present to you a brief overview of the open innovation policy
and public funding for collaborative projects with a special focus on Europe.

So the relationship between openness and the
European Union is a very long-lasting relationship,
which started with the idea of the European Commission being able
to support health research and innovation in the member states.
Giving this contribution through
identifying political priorities.
The very starting point of openness in Europe can be related to the work
of the Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas.
Who, in 2015, introduced three new goals for
the European research and innovation policy.
These are the Open Innovation, Open Science and
Open to the World, the so-called three O's.
This is not a new policy initiative or a
specific funding program that Moedas introduced,
but as it has been said, it was just a
way to strengthen the existing policies.
So what we know as the funding programs and framework programs of Horizon
2020, or Horizon Europe, just started and the ERA, the European Research Area.
Let's have a deeper look at the three O's
and what they mean for the European Union.
