                    I'm an advisor, consultant,

                    and educator in the
areas of digital risk,

                    digital data risks, privacy
compliance, and governance.

                    Welcome to my 10 talks
about digital risk.

                    This is the first talk
in the series titled

                    What Is Digital Risk and
Why is it Important.

                    In this introductory talk,

                    I explain what
digital risk is and

                    how organizations have been

                    Due to the increased practice
of working from home,

                    the proliferation of video
conferencing, communication,

                    and less in person
interactions as well as

                    the explosion of technologies
and innovation in science,

                    healthcare and AI
artificial intelligence.

                    The opportunities for

                    malicious actors have
increased exponentially.

                    This reliance on technology is

                    unprecedented and the
virtual erasure of borders

                    influx of machine learning and

                    artificial intelligence
field transactional

                    and administrative tools in

                    Cloud environments has
made it very easy for

organizations to sign up to use

                    these tools without
proper due diligence.

                    Let's go back to what
is digital risk.

It is the risk that has
expanded from applications and

systems to all the ways in
which digital data is created,

                    disseminated, accessed,

                    used, archived and
stored or saved.

                    It goes beyond the
traditional walls of

                    an organization beyond its
known infrastructure and into

                    the entire ecosystem
which includes Cloud

                    and generative AI or
artificial intelligence.

                    While in the classical sense
of IT risk management,
