Mickey is a Professor of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and of Physiology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. “Mickey” Marks received his bachelor's degree at Cornell University in biological sciences and his PhD from Duke University in immunology/ microbiology with Peter Cresswell.... read moreMickey went on to two consecutive postdoctoral fellowships at the National Institutes of Health with Keiko Ozato and Juan Bonifacino before starting his own lab at the University of Pennsylvania in 1995. Mickey moved to the affiliated Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2013. Mickey's research focuses on intracellular protein sorting, organelle biogenesis and diseases that affect these processes. Most of his lab currently focuses on using the pigment organelle, the melanosome, as the model system.
