Biography

Dr. Hannah Shaw is the Head of the Wales Centre for Anatomical Education (WACE) at Cardiff University. She holds an undergraduate degree and PhD in Anatomy. Her principal scientific interest lies in the attachment of tendon and ligaments to bone (entheses) and the significance of adipose tissue at these sites.... read moreDr. Shaw has extensive experience in teaching anatomy to students enrolled in a broad range of different degrees, including science, medicine, dentistry, optometry, pharmacy, and podiatry. She employs a variety of different approaches to facilitate learning, such as blended learning, flipped classrooms, and social media. The goal of this blended approach is to ensure that students receive adequate support before and after their contact/practical anatomy sessions. In 2017, she was honoured with the 'Most Effective Teacher' award by the Cardiff University Students Union. Dr. Shaw is a Fellow of HEA and a Fellow of the Anatomical Society. Additionally, she is a member of the Anatomical Society Education Committee, where she is responsible for the education pages of the website and the digital curation of online resources.
