Diana Lockwood graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1981. She trained in General medicine and specialised in infectious diseases and tropical medicine. She has been on WHO leprosy advisory panels. She ran a global leprosy research programme focusing on understanding the pathogenesis of reactions and improving treatment for reactions. She has worked on leprosy in India and Ethiopia. She is now working on reducing the stigma associated with leprosy.
