Biography

Fred Bunz leads a research program that is currently focused on the role of tumor suppressor proteins, particularly p53, in the innate immune responses to viral infection. Following a Howard Hughes postdoctoral fellowship in Cancer Genetics in the laboratory of Bert Vogelstein and Ken Kinzler, Dr. Bunz developed a research program in the department of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Radiation Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Bunz is the author of the popular textbook Principles of Cancer Genetics, currently in its second edition.
