Biography

Associate Professor Susan Hua is a full-time teaching and research academic in the School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy at the University of Newcastle, Australia. She is also the group leader of the Therapeutic Targeting Research Program at the University of Newcastle and the Hunter Medical Research Institute. A/Prof Hua... read morehas a Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours degree and a PhD from the University of Queensland in the fields of neuroscience and nanotechnology. She is a registered clinical pharmacist and has experience across various fields of pharmacy, including hospital, community, and research.

Since her appointment at the University of Newcastle in 2010, A/Prof Hua has independently established the first translational nanopharmaceutics laboratory in the Hunter region. Her research program is focused on improving the way we treat patients through the development of more effective and safer medications and diagnostic agents. Her research expertise provides a solid foundation to formulate, evaluate, and translate new therapeutic systems in various pathological disease states, in order to assess potential clinical applicability and identify novel therapeutic targets. A/Prof Hua’s leadership in translational nanopharmaceutics and therapeutic targeting has been recognized by a number of research and innovation awards.
