Biography

Paul Fairchild began his research career in Oxford, where he studied for a doctorate in the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, focussing on the dual role of dendritic cells in allograft rejection and immunological self-tolerance. After spending five years as a Post-doctoral Fellow investigating the aetiology of autoimmune disease in... read morethe Department of Pathology, University of Cambridge, he returned to Oxford where he is currently Associate Professor within the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology and a Fellow of Trinity College. He established the Oxford Stem Cell Institute in 2007 and served as Co-Director until 2015. In 2014, he was appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult and is currently Deputy Editor of the Journal of Immunology and Regenerative Medicine. For over 20 years. he has lectured on courses in medicine, biomedical sciences, and biochemistry at Oxford and has taught on the MSc in Integrated Immunology since its inception in 2005.
