Mr. Simon Bush Sightsavers, Ghana

Simon left university in 1983 and went to teach in Sudan at a secondary school for boys. During his time there he was also the voice of Sudan Airways and a part-time Sudanese television newsreader. It was this first experience of Africa that started a career overseas.

Before joining Sightsavers in 1999, he previously lived and worked in the West Bank & Gaza, Eritrea (where he was the first British Honorary Consul), Ethiopia, Lesotho, and Sudan. He is a former member of the World Health Organization's Regional Programme Review Group for NTDs in Africa and has been chair of both the NGDO NTD Network and the NGDO Coordination Group for Onchocerciasis Control.

Simon is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a trustee of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and a member of the Royal Africa Society. He has an MSc in development management.
