Biography

Soo-Eun Chang, Ph.D., CCC-SLP is an Assistant Professor and Rosa Casco Solano-Lopez Research Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Michigan. Soo-Eun received her Master’s degree and clinical training in Hearing and Speech Sciences at Vanderbilt University, and her Doctoral degree in Speech and Hearing Science from... read morethe University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She then continued her training as a post-doctoral research fellow in Clinical Neuroscience at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in the Intramural Research Program of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). Soo-Eun is currently conducting NIH-funded research projects that involve longitudinal collection of behavioral and multimodal neuroimaging data in young children who do and do not stutter. The aims of this research are to find early neural markers of persistent childhood stuttering, and to find brain development trajectories that lead to recovery versus persistence in stuttering. Results from these investigations are expected to contribute to developing better prognostic markers, and targets for future interventions in stuttering.
