Biography

David A. Hood obtained his BA-BPHE in Physical Education from Queen's University, Canada. He then went on to study for a MSc in Exercise Physiology at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. Under Ronald Terjung, Prof. Hood earned his PhD in Physiology from the Upstate Medical University, SUNY, Syracuse NY studying... read moreleucine metabolism in skeletal muscle. Following his PhD he did his postdoctoral training at the University of Konstanz, Germany under the supervision of Dirk Pette, where he studied contractile activity-induced gene expression in muscle. In 1988 he joined York University in Toronto. He is currently a Canada Research Chair in Cell Physiology and Director of the Muscle Health Research Centre in the school of Kinesiology and Health Science, Faculty of Health at York University.
