Biography

Eamonn M. M. Quigley graduated MB BCh BAO (hons) from University College Cork, Ireland in 1976. In 1986, he joined the section of gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Nebraska Medical Centre (UNMC) as an Assistant Professor, subsequently advancing to Associate Professor and Professor of Medicine and Physiology and Chief of the section. He developed there a clinical research centre for the study of gastrointestinal motility and pursued parallel studies in a variety of in vitro and in vivo animal models. In 1998, Dr. Quigley returned to Cork as Professor of Medicine and Human Physiology and was the first Head of the Medical School from 2000-7. His current interests focus on host-microbiota interactions in gastrointestinal disorders. Dr. Quigley is Vice President of the American College of Gastroenterology and a past Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Gastroenterology.
