Biography

David Barford is Professor of Molecular Biology and Chair of the Section of Structural Biology at the Chester Beatty Laboratories, Institute of Cancer Research. Dr. Barford initiated his research on protein serine/threonine phosphatases at the MRC Protein Phosphorylation Unit, University of Dundee in Prof. Patricia Cohen's Laboratory (1990-1991) and continued this work and collaborated with Professor Nick Tonks on the protein tyrosine phosphatases at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (1991-1994). In 1994 he returned to Oxford as a University Lecturer and Fellow of Somerville College and in 1999 was appointed as Professor of Molecular Biology and Chair of the Section of Structural Biology at the Chester Beatty Laboratories, Institute of Cancer Research.
