Biography

Jamie Stevens is Associate Professor of Molecular Systematics in Biosciences at the University of Exeter, UK. Dr. Stevens completed his PhD in parasite systematics and evolution in the MRC Trypanosomiasis research unit at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Bristol. Following this, he moved to Montpellier, France to continue... read moreresearching parasite population genetics and evolution at the CNRS/ORSTOM Laboratoire Génétique Moléculaire des Parasites et des Vecteurs, before returning to Bristol to turn his attention to blowflies. In 1997 he was successful in obtaining a Wellcome Trust Biodiversity Research Fellowship to work full-time on the evolution of parasitism in blowflies and screwworm flies, whereupon he moved to Exeter, taking up a lectureship there in 2001. Dr. Stevens continues to undertake evolutionary research on a range of insects, parasites, fish and mammals.
