Tomas Ganz is a Professor of Medicine and Pathology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He received his BS in physics from UCLA, PhD in applied physics from the California Institute of Technology, and returned to UCLA for medical studies (MD 1978) and advanced medical training. He stayed... read moreat UCLA for postdoctoral research in gene regulation with Prof. Herschman and research on antimicrobial peptides with Prof. Lehrer, and continued at the same institution as a faculty member of the School of Medicine. His major research interests are in the role of peptides in innate immunity and in the molecular physiology of iron regulation.
