Interviewer: Today, I'm interviewing David Edelman, currently senior lecturer in business administration, Harvard Business School. Links to his extensive business and advisory biographies accompany this interview. The subject of the interview is integrating AI into business, based on Mr. Edelman's article, written jointly with Silvio Palumbo in the July-August issue of the Harvard Business Review, titled, What Smart Companies Know About Integrating AI. Listeners are expected to have read the article before listening to the interview. Mr. Edelman, thank you for taking the time for this interview. May I start by asking some fundamental questions that reading your article stimulates. How does one develop expertise in asking appropriate questions when setting objectives? Second, if companies are constantly learning and what is true changes, and the learnings and changes are in vast numbers, how should the company tackle the "if only we knew what we know" issue? After all, the experimenters are but humans. Third, does dividing developing AI technologies from applying AI technology as the core business activities of businesses highlight an important issue of risk?
