What example can we give of a hospitality, a business in Sub-Saharan Africa, and the work that they're doing? I'm giving an example of a company that went into a partnership with a very well-known international brand, which, by the way, is one of the top five hospitality groups internationally. They came into South Africa in the years before the 2010 soccer World Cup, and they entered into a partnership with an architecture and property development company. For the sake of this lecture, we have used a pseudo name for them and the international brand entered into a partnership with a company called GoodSpan. This company consisted of two entities, one, which is in the property development and is an architectural business. We gave it a name of Monk Cowl, while the other one, which is a non-profit organization servicing the deaf society, we gave it a name of Basecamp. Basecamp and Monk Cowl came together and formed a company called GoodSpan. They entered into a partnership with an international hotel group, and they entered in this partnership to build a hotel. Basecamp contributed land because they had land where they had their center, which served as a center to serve their deaf people, where they would come in and learn sign language. They would attend classes to empower the deaf people with different skills. It was a vast piece of land in a very, shall we say, high-end area in the city of Cape Town next to some beautiful amenities, and this land was sitting there not being used optimally. This development company approached Basecamp and said, why don't we enter into a partnership? Let's put your land to good use. In doing that we will be giving you an opportunity to sustain yourself and the work that you do for the deaf people to eternity. They entered into a partnership. They approached this international hotel group and they opened a hotel. The hotel was financed by one of the local development finance institutions. It was the major debt funder of this hotel development, and of course, each one of these entities contributed. But it was very little what they contributed. The Basecamp contributed the land so they didn't have any money to put in. The architectural firm contributed a little bit, but the bulk of the money was sourced outside from this development finance company.
