Welcome to this talk
where we are going to be
discussing cross-cultural
business research.
I'm Robin Bell from the
University of Worcester.
I'm going to give
a short talk on this
topic for you today.

During this talk, we're going
to cover four main areas.
The first is what is
cross-cultural research?
We'll define it here before
moving on to the second area,
which is going to
be a discussion of
the value of
cross-cultural research.
Then we move on to
the third area,
discussing the challenges of
conducting
cross-cultural research.
Then finally, I'm going to
give you a case study from
my own experience of conducting
cross-cultural research.

Cross-cultural research
studies processes
and behaviours across cultures.
In particular,
when we're looking
at business
cross-cultural research,
we're commonly comparing
businesses and
their operations and management
between different
countries and cultures.
Cross-cultural
research can utilise
either quantitative or
qualitative methods,
or potentially both, depending
on which we believe is
most effective for
the research which
we want to conduct on the topic.
1:26
Cross-cultural business
research is becoming
increasingly common within
the business
research literature.
This is due to the globalisation
of markets and businesses.
This is leading to an
increased interest and
need for cross-cultural business
research because people are
increasingly interested
in exploring
different international
business practices
and cultural differences
and understanding how we can
utilise these most effectively
for our own businesses.
We also want to understand how
other cultures and
businesses work
effectively and can potentially
improve business practice
and performance.
