Well, welcome. I'm going to tell you about
Verstegen Spices and Sauces and the Purpose Economy.
My name is Ms. Marianne Van Keep.
I'm Director of Sustainability and Purchasing at Verstegen.

Verstegen is a Dutch company.
We are based in Rotterdam.
We're a family company since 1886,
and at the moment we have the fourth generation,
who is actually owner of the company.
We're really proud of this family business.
In Rotterdam, we have about 400 people working,
and like I told you,
we make spices and sauces service to different kinds of production.
We have sales offices all over Europe,
in Belgium, in the UK and Ireland,
in Spain, and in Germany.
We feel it is our responsibility to take care of the world and the care of the Earth,
where we work and where we live,
and therefore, our mission is really about the future.

How spices come from all over the world,
and we have some key origins.
The most important is Indonesia.
Indonesia, because we have a shared history with Indonesia and
because we feel that the best spices come from that country,
and I can name them to you,
those are white pepper,
black pepper, nutmeg, mace,
and cassia or cinnamon.

We have two main sustainable issues that we would like to address,
and one of them is that we want to be climate positive.
Climate positive, we are already carbon-neutral,
but we want to do more,
we want to make a difference, we want to,
in everything that we do reduce carbon emissions as much as possible.
Of course, you can do that in your own company,
and you can do that in the countries of sourcing.
