NASCAR - using technology to improve the experience

A good example of integrating technology is NASCAR. Leaving your interactive surround sound HD television at-home viewing experience to sit in the stands and only see the cars when they drive by you doesn't seem all that attractive. But NASCAR is using technology to combine the at-home experience with a live event, with its Nextel FanView. As you can see, the FanView is a hand-held device that provides the fans with different camera angles and audio feeds. It is designed to add value to the track experience by meeting the media expectations of fans. NASCAR's field of competition is not contained in a media-friendly environment, like the football pitch or basketball court. To get the fan closer to the action, they must use technology to improve the experience.
