Hi. This is Gita Kumta,
former professor of
Information Systems and
Knowledge Management at NMIMS
University, Mumbai, India.
We're going to look at
a live case of an organization
that has implemented
a knowledge management
framework that has helped them
to reap benefits and
improve their productivity.
Initially, they had faced
a lot of challenges.

Knowledge is information
which is actionable
and is with an individual.
But what does knowledge
management mean to an individual?
It is the conversion of
this individual knowledge
that is transformed to
organizational learning,
which adds value
to the organization and
improves its performance.
Therefore, we see that an
individual is center stage.
Secondly, how can
an organization
disseminate this tacit knowledge
across the organization?
There are three major processes:
acquire knowledge, share
knowledge, and utilize knowledge.
A question often comes to
one's mind as to whether
this conversion is possible
when an individual is
center stage. Challenging.
The organization that
I'm going to look at is
1:23
Afcons Infrastructure Limited,
which is a leading force within
India's engineering and
construction landscape.
It has over five decades of
expertise in various sectors
and has executed over 350
infrastructure projects
in various countries.
Afcons has been
pivotal in delivering
transformative projects
across diverse geographies,
and has been able to
put in its projects
of complex construction
techniques
and unique architectural
challenges.
