Biography

Lee S. Newman, MD, MA, is Professor of Epidemiology in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics and Professor of Medicine in the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center. His... read moreresearch focuses on the adaptive and innate immune basis of granulomatous disorders, metal immunotoxicology and the relationship between genetics and environmental triggers for granulomatous disease, especially chronic beryllium disease and sarcoidosis. Dr. Newman completed his BA at Amherst College and a MA in social psychology at Cornell University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. He earned his Medical Doctorate from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. He completed his fellowship training in pulmonary medicine in 1986 at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and at the National Jewish Medical and Research Center.
