Dr. Sandipan Ganguly is a Senior Scientist in the Division of Parasitology at ICMR-NIRBI (formerly NICED). His primary research interests include the molecular analysis of rRNA biogenesis, understanding its formation mechanisms and exploring its potential as a drug target in Giardiasis. Additionally, he investigates the effects of oxidative stress on microaerophilic Giardia at the genomic, proteomic and metabolomic levels. Dr. Ganguly possesses extensive expertise in techniques like Confocal Microscopy, FRET, FCET, EMSA, Sanger Sequencing, Microarray Analysis, Genomic and cDNA Library Preparation and Flow Cytometry etc. He also serves as an expert member of the core committee for India’s mass deworming program—a collaborative initiative between the Government of India and Deworm the World Initiative (DtWI). His current research focuses on detecting pathogenic strains of different enteric parasites through high-resolution sequencing, investigating antiparasitic drug resistance mechanisms and developing alternative therapeutic strategies to combat antimicrobial resistance in parasites.
