Dr. Cohen earned his bachelor's degree from Yale University, his DPhil from Oxford University and his MD from Stanford University. He completed his postdoc, residency and fellowship at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) where he is currently a Professor in the Departments of Cellular & Molecular Pharmacology and... read moreBiochemistry and Biophysics. He is also the Managing Director for Life Sciences at TPG Ventures. Dr. Cohen's current research is focused on determining the structure of PrPsc, the infectious form of the prion protein, using computational and experimental biophysical methods to identify and synthesize antiprion agents. In the field of structure-based drug design, Cohen has combined computational tools with synthetic chemistry and biochemistry to accelerate the drug discovery process in parasitic diseases such as malaria and Chagas disease.
