Her research used a variety of molecular and biochemical approaches to characterise novel mitochondrial disease-associated genes identified by next generation sequencing technologies. Her current research at Northumbria University focuses on the use of iPSC-based disease models and genome-wide CRISPR screening to uncover key mechanistic elements underpinning the pathogenesis of mitochondrial disorders.
