1 TalkBiography
Rajini Rao's expertise is in cellular and molecular mechanisms of ion transport. She received her PhD in biochemistry at the University of Rochester, followed by postdoctoral training in genetics at Yale. Rajini then joined the Physiology Department at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as Assistant Professor and rose... read morethrough the ranks to become Professor in 2004. Dr. Rao's laboratory uses yeast as a model organism to discover novel ion transporters in the endomembranes of cells and extends these findings to mammalian systems where they have relevance to human disease. Dr. Rao serves on the Biophysical Society Council and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
