Dr. Wendt joined the faculty of Purdue University as an Assistant Professor in 2014. In 2016 Dr. Wendt became an American Cancer Society Research Scholar, and in 2022 was appointed as a Showalter Faculty Scholar in life sciences at Purdue. Research in the Wendt lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms of breast cancer dormancy and metastasis. In particular the Wendt lab studies growth factor signaling processes emanating from receptor tyrosine kinases, and how signaling and therapeutic response is affected by various aspects of the tumor microenvironment such as the extra cellular matrix and hypoxia.
