Thomas Hawn, MD-PhD, is a Professor in the Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases within the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. After completing his MD-PhD studies at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, he moved to the University of Washington in Seattle where he... read morecompleted a residency in Internal Medicine followed by an Infectious Diseases fellowship with post-doctoral research at the University of Washington. Dr. Hawn studies the role of genetic variation of the innate immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis. He uses a combination of molecular, cellular, systems biology, and human genetic techniques to pursue an overall research goal of understanding the genetic basis and molecular mechanisms of human susceptibility to infectious diseases.
