Biography

Dr. Rojas-Viada earned her Ph.D in Forestry from the University of Wisconsin in 2019, and she holds a Master in Science in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development from the same University. She obtained her professional degree in Forestry in 2009 from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She has been... read morean Assistant Professor in Forestry in the same university since 2021. Dr. Rojas-Viada's work integrates landscape ecology with field ecology to find opportunities to create sustainable landscapes.

Currently, her work focuses on understanding the drivers affecting the socio-ecology of riparian ecosystems in agricultural landscapes to plan restoration and conservation action. Her most recent scholarly articles were published in Landscape and Urban Planning and Conservation Biology. From the Chilean government, Dr. Rojas-Viada received two scholarships to complete her graduate studies, and a Postdoctoral Fellowship to continue developing her applied research in the Araucania region of Chile, with the support of UC Center for Local Development (Centro UC de Desarrollo Local). She also participated, as postdoctoral researcher, in a multidisciplinary project to plan for climate-ready landscapes in Southern California https://www.climatesciencealliance.org/cwc, at San Diego State University, California.
