Richard Zaleskis was the WHO Medical Officer for TB control in the Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia) from 1994 to 2000 and then from 2000 to 2012 he was a Regional Adviser for TB Control in the WHO Regional Office for Europe, Copenhagen, Denmark. Since returning to Latvia in 2012... read morehe has continued his professional activities as an international TB expert, as well as a lecturer and facilitator of the WHO Collaborating Centre for research and training in the management of MDR-TB in Riga, Latvia. From 2014 to 2018 he was a serving member of the Technical Review Panel of the Global Fund for AIDS, TB, and Malaria. He is a member of the International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The UNION), European Respiratory Society, and Latvian Association of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases.
