Dr. Macdonald is Clinical Professor, Department of Neurological Surgery, UCSF Fresno. He was Professor of Surgery, University of Toronto (2007 – 2019) and Professor of Surgery, University of Chicago (1993 – 2006), moving to UCSF Fresno to continue his vascular neurosurgery practice and academic interests in the climate and outdoors... read moresetting near his family. He conducts clinical and translational research on the pathophysiology and treatment of subarachnoid hemorrhage, chronic subdural hematoma and vascular instability in cavernous malformations and brain microbleeding. He has written over 300 peer-reviewed publications, 10 books, and 500 reviews, editorials and other published papers and has or has had grant funding from National Institutes of Health, American Heart Association, Canadian Institutes for Health Research and others.
