Dr. Carla A. Da Silva is a Senior Principal Medical Scientist in the Respiratory Translational Medicine unit, Early Clinical Development division, at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, Sweden. Her responsibilities include direct development of surrogate endpoints and implementation of these and of innovative technologies into AstraZeneca’s clinical development programs. She also directly... read moredevelops and creates clinical development plans and strategies that align with commercial strategies, and executes and interprets clinical trials. Along with her teams she has been identify new approaches for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma and contributed to the acceleration of clinical development.
Dr. Da Silva has 20 years’ experience in the respiratory field, 10 of which were in academia at the Université Louis Pasteur (France) and at Yale University (USA), where she gained expertise in translational and in vivo biology and models. The following 10 years have been in small molecule development at AstraZeneca, from pre-clinical to early clinical phase. Her achievements include directing a cross-functional team to deliver surrogate endpoints for exacerbations in asthma and COPD (CompEx).
